Dolgen MaryDOLGEN, Mary Myrtle  - February 23, 1924 - March 9, 2018

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Mary Myrtle Dolgen (nee Badame) on Friday, March 9, 2018 at the age of 94.

In her early adult years, Mary's strong, melodic voice and bubbly personality were appreciated by the many World War II service personnel that she helped to entertain and her appreciation of music could be seen and heard throughout her life.

Even while the effects of Alzheimer's were eroding her memories, Mary always gained immense joy from singing out the verses of her favourite 40s- and 50s-era tunes. For many years, she was a valued employee at the Small Arms Ltd. plant in Long Branch (Lakeview) until its closure, at which time she went on to work at Canada Post.

Mary was one of seven children raised by her late parents Sam and Jennie Badame of New Toronto. Mary was predeceased by her loving husband William (Bill) Dolgen, sisters Connie and Kaye, brothers Jim, George and John, as well as nieces Lynda Pardy and Patti Badame and nephew Rick McCron.

She is survived by her brother Vincent, niece Marilyn Fraser (Iain), nephews Jim Badame (Sandy), Sam McCron (Sue), David McCron (Julie), Michael McCron and many great-nieces and great-nephews. Special thanks go to Julia Holovchak for providing her with opportunities to regularly enjoy the music that she held dear and to the caring staff at Lakeshore Lodge in South Etobicoke for providing Mary with a caring and nurturing atmosphere in her final years.

Friends will be received at the Ridley Funeral Home, 3080 Lake Shore Blvd. W., on Tuesday, March 13, 2018 from 7 to 9 p.m. A Funeral Service will be held in the Chapel on Wednesday, March 14, 2018 at 1:30 p.m. Interment to follow.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Alzheimer Society of Ontario or an organization of your choice.
