Langford III, PhD., FRSC, Professor of Chemistry at the University of Calgary, widely respected across Canada and worldwide as a teacher, researcher and mentor, died peacefully on March 11, 2018 following a battle with pancreatic cancer.

His career spanned 6 decades, 5 of them in Canada. He was named as a fellow of the Royal Society of Canada in 1992.

He will be missed by colleagues, friends and former students at the University of Calgary, Concordia University in Montreal, Carleton University in Ottawa and Amherst College in Massachusetts, not to mention by the many scientists he mentored who are working around the world today.
