MacDonald MarianMACDONALD, Marian Elizabeth (nee ACKMAN)  - It is with deep sadness we announce that Marian Elizabeth Macdonald (nee Ackman) passed away in the early morning of Wednesday, March 21, 2018 at age 82 at Sunrise of Burnhamthorpe, Mississauga.

She was the beloved mother of Robert Macdonald of Mississauga and Andrew Macdonald of Port Hope, sons of Ramsay Macdonald.

Predeceased by her brother Dr. Robert Ackman of Dartmouth, Nova Scotia, a recipient of The Order of Canada. She was a treasured sister-in-law to Katherine Ackman of Dartmouth, Nova Scotia.

Marian was an adored grandmother of Isabella Macdonald, cherished mother-in-law to Christine Macdonald and Lynda Macdonald, much-loved aunt to Elizabeth Ackman and Margaret Ackman and to numerous nieces and nephews spread throughout the US and Canada.

She was the recipient of the 2005 Sally Henry Award as Ontario's home economist of the year. Throughout her younger days, Marian was an avid equestrian, skier, gardener, sailor and world traveller.

She was known as an excellent cook and baker. She was a graduate from the University of Guelph, class of 1959 Home Economics.

For many years, Marian was a judge of jams and jellies at the Royal Winter Fair. She was the secretary of the Canadian Metric Commission. Always very busy and social, Marian was an esteemed friend to many.

Marian was a brave survivor of multiple occurrences of breast cancer.

Following retirement from senior home economist at Kraft General Foods Canada, Marian became a valuable volunteer assisting cancer patients at the Toronto Princess Margaret Hospital.

Marian's family would like to thank the staff at Sunrise Senior Living in Unionville and Mississauga for their excellent care in her final years.
