Melinyshyn WalterMELINYSHYN, Walter Stefan  - Walter Melinyshyn passed away peacefully after a valiant struggle with cancer, on Wednesday, April 11, 2018.

Our dearly beloved is gone, yet he is with us still in spirit, and we know he is resting in God's hands.

Predeceased by his parents Sophia and Stefan Melinyshyn.

Best friend and husband of Rhoda, brother-in-law to Eleanor (Bob) Carpen, father of Matthew (Sherry) Melinyshyn, Leigh Thomson, Elizabeth (Joe) Terzo and Michael (Beata) Melinyshyn. Grandfather of Heather, Stephen, Emily, Hannah and Alexander.

Walter graduated as a Civil Engineer from the University of Toronto in 1958. In the Ontario Ministries of Transportation and Communication and Labour, he designed bridges, planned and worked as a Director in many capacities.

He was also an elder at Thornhill Presbyterian Church for many years. Walter was a man of great kindness, generosity and patience, with a love of the outdoors and sense of humour that brought people together. He will be much missed.

In the last months he was cared for at home, with his final day at The Hill House Hospice in Richmond Hill.

Visitation will be held Monday, April 16th from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. at the R.S. Kane Funeral Home, 6150 Yonge St., Toronto. The Funeral Service will be held on Tuesday, April 17th at 11 a.m., at Thornhill Presbyterian Church, 271 Centre St., Thornhill. A Reception will follow at the church.

In lieu of flowers, opportunities to donate in memoriam will be available at the Visitation and Service.
