HAMBLY, John Fraser  - Those who love Fraser Hambly, born in London, Ontario on March 14, 1943 are calling out – "Fore" and "Strike" as he has left us to move onward to his next game in eternity, which he will play with as much conviction as he lived and played in this life.

Fraser died peacefully on Monday, April 30, 2018 after a short and courageous battle with major health issues.

Fraser lived most of his life in North Toronto. Kind, generous, intelligent and very human, Fraser was a son, a brother, a husband, a father in-spirit, an uncle, a friend, an elementary school teacher (John Fisher and Allenby Public Schools), an Ontario 5-Pin Bowling champion and an avid golfer with a handicap to die for, even though he was haunted by the "yips".

On the bowling lanes, he won four Ontario singles titles and two national singles championships.

He was voted, by his peers, as the "all time" number one 5-pin bowler in this province. He was a dual inductee to the Ontario 5-Pin Bowlers Hall of Fame, a player in 1989 and a builder in 2017.

Fraser loved sports, had a thirst for knowledge and most of all, loved family gatherings. Fraser thought of himself as father to Rebecca and Ioan Jones, and their daughters, as well as Tarzan and Stella, and their sons. He was patient and entertaining with his nieces, nephews as well as great-nieces and nephews.

He shone with delight as he shared life and interests with them. Who would have known that a putter comes in a size for a three-year-old or that a 5-pin bowling ball can be pushed down the lane with the loving help of an Uncle? Fraser gave his time to his passion for sports, while also volunteering and sponsoring provincially both the Ontario 5-Pin Bowlers Association and the Master Bowlers Association of Ontario.

Fraser leaves behind his wife of a lifetime, Hope (nee McBride) and their companion cat, Addie – who will she share the whipped cream with now? Also, there is a younger brother, Dr. Gordon Hambly and his wife Marlene, their children: Deborah, Catherine and David and their grandchildren. To the McBride clan Fraser was a brother and is mourned by Joy, Peter and Muriel, Meghan and Lauren, Vee and Jessie, Christopher and Shelley, Grace and Philip Gillesse and Emma.

Walter Heeney and all of Fraser's friends, too many to name will remember the good times, but Fraser will miss that next Tee time this season, as he is playing in green pastures leaving behind a legacy of life well lived.

A thank you to the Rev. Peter Holmes and Rev. Dale Rose and also, to the nurses and doctors of the Intensive Care Unit at Sunnybrook Hospital.

Service will be held at Yorkminster Park Baptist Church located at 1585 Yonge St. at Heath (north of St. Clair) on Monday, May 7th, viewing 10:00-10:45 a.m. in the chapel attached to the church. Service at 11:00 a.m. Reception and speeches to follow.

If desired, donations to Yorkminster Park Baptist Church would be appreciated.
