GRELLA, Ersilia (nee CALVANO) - With great sadness, we announce the passing of Ersilia Grella on Thursday, May 10, 2018 at the age of 88.
She will be solemnly missed by her adoring and grieving husband of 62 years, Luigi Grella; by her devoted daughter Giuseppina (Philip) and son Tomasso (Nanci); by her loving grandchildren, David and Lisa, Sara, Luis, Nicole who adored their Nonna Ersilia; and by her surviving sister, Pasqualina. Predeceased by her parents, Giuseppe and Rachela Calvano and her siblings Luisella, Anna and Giovanni whom she has joined in the eternal light of God. Will fondly be remembered by so many other Grella and Calvano relatives, friends and families.
Ersilia was born in 1929 in Gesualdo, Italy and immigrated to Toronto in 1956 with Luigi.
Together they worked so hard to successfully raise a loving family and build a great home in a new country. Ersilia was kind, industrious, outgoing and a talented cook and gardener. Her favourite times were always meeting with her family on so many special occasions and providing them with her care, love and her incredible food.
Thanks to the staff of Humber for their diligence throughout her final days as well as to her devoted family doctor, Amos Rostas.
Visitation to celebrate Ersilia's life will be held at Delmoro Funeral Home, 61 Beverly Hills Dr., North York, Sunday, May 13th, 6 to 9 p.m.; Monday, May 14th, 2 to 4 and 6 to 9 p.m. A Catholic Funeral Mass will be held at St. Fidelis Church, 33 Connie St., Toronto on Tuesday, May 15th at 10:30 a.m. Entombment will follow .
