BESHARAT, Salim "Abu William" - 1927 - 2018 It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Salim "Abu William" Besharat in Toronto in his 90th year.
He departs to join his first wife and love, Mary Besharat.
Salim is the beloved husband of Raghda Besharat, cherished father to Violet (Nabil), William (Lucy), Raouf, Taghreed (Bassam), Kamelia (Awni) and Yazan.
Stepfather to Rakan (Rania) and Raed (Tina).
Devoted grandfather "Jido" to Nancy (Habib), Susan (Abraham), Mark, Simon (Pamela), Sana (Emad), Christina, Salem, Alia, Tamara (Tamer), Cliff, Ranya (Jad), Peter (Pamela), Tanya (Robert), James (Jelisia), Joseph, Jasmine, Jaden, Jonah, Mia and Tatiana, 14 great-grandchildren as well as many nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.
He lived a full and happy life. Born in Shatana, Jordan he moved to Canada in 1971 with his wife and six children. He also brought his nephews to Canada, Issa (Feryal), Said (Ida), Fouad (Siham) and Emad (Souad).
Salim was a religious man and was very involved in the Antiochian Orthodox community, rarely missing a service.
The family would like to thank the staff at the Scarborough Grace Hospital for their wonderful care. A special thank you to the friends and family who have shown their support and continue to do so.
Visitation to take place on Friday, May 18, 2018 from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. and 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. at St. George Antiochian Orthodox Church (9116 Bayview Ave., Richmond Hill).
The funeral service will be held at St. George Antiochian Orthodox Church (9116 Bayview Ave., Richmond Hill) on Saturday, May 19, 2018 at 11:30 a.m. with burial to follow in Willowdale.
Mercy meal to follow. May his memory be eternal.
