MILNER, Robert Selby  - July 6, 1938 - May 13, 2018

With great sadness we have to announce that our much loved Selby died peacefully at Ian Anderson House in Oakville.

"I've had a good life," he commented recently.

Selby certainly loved life and was a cheerful, patient and kind man.

The good life mentioned included living with prostate cancer for the last 12 years. He accepted all the ups and downs of that as just another part of that life. He never complained and was very grateful for all the treatment he received over the years at Princess Margaret Hospital. He willingly signed up for any tests or trials that would help further research which might benefit others if not him.

He is survived by Terry, his Wife of 35 years; Daughter Bryn (PJ) and her Mother, Ann; Sons Don (Jen), Alan (Ann), Daughter Jane and their mother, Ruth; Granddaughters Brooke and Alyssa; and Grandsons Rory and Oliver.

There are many people who've deserved our thanks; too many to list individually, but a few should be mentioned at this time: Thanks to the wonderful Dr. Lynne Benjamin, the very special Acclaim nurse Samantha and Dr. Jeremy Fong, who've given us so much help on Selby's journey these last months. Selby was very grateful to friend Emmett for keeping his sprits up with frequent phone calls and jokes, etc. when he could no longer hike.

Our dear friends Chas and Jan have given us so much practical help and support for many years for which we're everlastingly grateful. Lastly, we are deeply indebted to the amazing Pathfinders for always being there for us.

Finding such a group was one of the best things we ever did and we could not have got through the 12-year journey without you! Selby has been cremated and there will be no service, but his wish was for us to have a "party" to celebrate his life and that will happen at a later date.

Flowers are gratefully declined, but should you wish to honour Selby in some way, please consider donations to: The Oakville & Milton Humane Society; The Bruce Trail Conservancy; or the Donkey Sanctuary of Canada (This email address is being protected from spambots.
