HAZELL, Edward (ED) James - August 9, 1929 - May 15, 2018
After a short illness, and a long bout of Alzheimer's.
Son of Marjorie and Victor Hazell - Norval.
Beloved husband of Liz, father of Edward L. (Audrey), Susan Lloyd (Delmar), Jeff (Lina).
Grandfather of Sarah Hazell, Amanda Lloyd, Kevin Lloyd.
Born in Queensville, the family moved to Norval when Ed was 8.
Ed moved to Brampton at an early age and spent a few years at The Dale Estates working in the flower industry, at 19 he joined Coe Manufacturing (Moore Dry Kiln) making kilns to dry lumber.
Ed had a very distinguished voice and was voted Best Caller in 1962. In the 80s, Ed regularly called at the Four Corners Square Dance Club in Port Credit, never missing a dance in ten years.
Ed was a member of the Old Tyme Callers' Association and also founding member of the Brampton Square Dance Club, where longtime Brampton residents will remember attending Saturday night square dancing at Brampton High School. Per Ed's instructions, cremation has taken place, with a private family interment at Hillcrest Cemetery in Norval.
A celebration of life will take place June 22nd, 2 p.m., Holland Christian Homes, Horizon Hall, King Tower entrance between King and Peace Tower, 35 Kingknoll, Brampton. Limited parking, car pooling recommended.
