Dunlop LowisDUNLOP, Lowis Stone  - 1924 - 2018  On May 31, 2018 peacefully in hospital, Lowis slipped away from the life that she has lived with enthusiasm, love and joy.

Lowis was born in Saint John, NB, on March 27, 1924 and grew up in Halifax, NS, where she attended Halifax Ladies College.

During the war she met a young naval officer and married Dan in 1944.

They were happily married for 68 years until Dan passed away in 2012.

She was predeceased by her parents Harold and Edith McKay of Halifax and by her husband Dan.

She is survived by her three children: Bill (Marlene) of Thunder Bay, Dana Bowles of Mississauga and Hamish (Martha) of Toronto. She is also survived by seven grandchildren: Michelle, Matthew, Sarah, Katie, Graeme, Meghan and Jordan and nine great-grandchildren all of whom will miss their gramma LoLo.

She is also survived by dear relatives in New Brunswick and Scotland. One of her passions was travelling and she and Dan were often seen crossing "the pond" to explore new venues. If they were not travelling, they were actively planning their next adventure, often with family or friends.

She was our matriarch and our family historian who kept us in touch with our history and the stories of our forefathers.

The family is grateful to the staff of the Palliative Care Unit at the Oakville Trafalgar Memorial Hospital for the compassionate care they provided to Lowis and to the family.

She lived a good life complete with generosity, humour and love and she will be missed by all who knew her.

A Memorial Visitation will be held on Friday, June 8, 2018 at Ward Funeral Home, 109 Reynolds Street, Oakville, from 2-4 p.m.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations to the Lions Foundation of Canada Dog Guides, would be appreciated by the family. dogguides.com/donate.html.
