CARTER, George  - Peacefully passed away, surrounded by his family at home in Etobicoke, at the age of 96.

Reunited with the love of his life, his Beloved Wife Kay.

Loving Father of Linda (Tom), Evan (Ann), Jacquie (Michael) and Ralph (Holly).

Treasured Grandfather of Jessica, Micah, Emily, Annie, Kathleen and Andre.

Great-Grandfather of Aina and Caring Brother of Doris.

He will be remembered by many other relatives and friends. George Carter graduated from Osgoode Hall Law School in 1948, practiced law for 30 years, before being called to the bench in 1979 and was Canada's first native-born Black judge, serving for 16 years on the Ontario Provincial Court and later, appointed to the Ontario Court of Justice.

Judge Carter was a recipient of the Harry Jerome Lifetime Achievement Award; Osgoode Hall Law School of York University Award For Excellence; and Honorary Life Membership to The Ontario Judges Association. He was honoured by the Canadian Association of Black Lawyers (CABL) and is a recipient of Queen Elizabeth II Diamond Jubilee Medal and an Honorary Doctorate from Queen's University.

Memories of him will last in our hearts forever.

A Visitation will take place on Monday, June 11, 2018 from 2 – 4 and 6 – 9 p.m. at Glendale Funeral Home, 1810 Albion Road, Etobicoke. A Funeral Service will begin at 11 a.m. on Tuesday, June 12, 2018 in the Chapel. An Interment will follow.
