MICHANOS, Stella (Stavroula) - March 26, 1920 - June 26, 2018
It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Stella (Stavroula) Michanos of Toronto at the age of 98.
Loving wife of Nickolaos Michanos for 73 years.
Cherished mother of the late George (Theone) Panakos,
Peter (Mary) Michanos, Anna (Ted) Kragaris, Dimitra (John) Telalidis, Olga (Peter) Sofianos and Gina (Eddie) Vicente. Proud grandmother to 19 grandchildren, 35 great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild.
She will be lovingly remembered by her brother, Panayioti Polidoros and many nieces and nephews. Stella emigrated from Greece to Canada in 1956, together with her family.
She was a dedicated seamstress for the Doctors' Hospital (Toronto) from 1959 until her retirement in 1985. She had a passion for sewing, needlecraft, cooking and baking, hosting special occasions, writing poetry, and for growing the most beautiful roses in her garden. She will be sadly missed, always remembered and will remain in our hearts forever.
The family would like to thank the staff at the Hellenic Home for the Aged for their compassion and exceptional care of Stella.
Memorial donations may be made to the Hellenic Home for the Aged (Toronto) or the Canadian Cancer Society.
Friends and family are welcome to gather at the York Funeral Centre, Toronto, on Friday, July 6, 2018 from 10:30 to 11:30 a.m. Funeral service at 11:30 a.m. Burial to follow.
