Dorn MichaelDORN, Michael  - It is with great sadness that we announce the sudden and unexpected passing of Michael Dorn at the age of 60.

Son of the late Rudolf Dorn, he is survived by his mother, Margaret Dorn and cousins Gisela and Eva-Maria Posselt of Germany.

Michael will be deeply missed by so many, but especially long-time partner Ann, with whom he travelled the world.

A devoted son, Michael was a constant caregiver to his mother Margaret, who misses him dearly. Michael was a first-generation Canadian, who celebrated his country through more than three decades of excellence as a Video Producer and Editor for The CBC Television.

He brought unsurpassed skill and passion to great documentaries and breaking news stories alike. Michael loved his home city of Toronto. Weekends found him at films, concerts and little-known clubs and galleries. He was an ardent supporter of the arts.

The quintessential rolling stone, Mike never sat still for long. Mike's spare time was filled with his own unique film and photography projects. Loved ones, friends and colleagues knew Michael as a man with an unparalleled exuberance and fascination for life. He brought that same passion to his relationships.

Although he had no siblings, Michael was a lifelong "brother" to Wayne Novak and David Price of Toronto and Chris Vassbotn of North Bay. Michael was a deeply loyal friend, a firm presence through life's joys and storms. Time can lessen many wounds, but it can never replace a brother.

A Memorial Service will be held at the Morley Bedford Funeral Home, 159 Eglinton Avenue West, on Thursday, July 12th at 2 p.m. with a reception to follow.

In lieu of flowers, donations to the Sunnybrook Foundation would be much appreciated by the family.
