UNGER, Wanda (nee CHERVINSKI) - It is with great sadness that we announce Wanda Unger passed away on July 10, 2018 after a courageous battle with cancer.
She will be deeply missed by her son Tyler and her granddaughter Piper.
She is predeceased by her sisters Lori, Irene and Jane Chervinski. In recent years, Wanda would likely be remembered for her love of "knee-slapper" jokes - her favourite being "Why was the mushroom invited to a lot of parties?" She was devoted to her family, retiring from her career as a banker to become a stay-at-home-Grandma and help raise Piper.
In her earlier years Wanda was an avid traveler and had a distinguished career in customs brokerage.
She was also heavily involved in local politics, with her favourite highlight being her contributions in the 1978 Mississauga mayoral election.
Wanda was a life-long advocate and supporter of people with mental health issues and worked passionately to promote awareness.
Therefore, in lieu of flowers, we ask for donations to be made to the Canadian Mental Health Association in Wanda's name. A private memorial will be held.
