Dear sister of Irene Searles, Janet Lasso, and sister-in-law of Joan Janosik. Predeceased by her parents Irvin and Annie Bieman and by her siblings Ken Bieman (Pauline), Ross Bieman (Dorothy), Lorne Bieman (Elaine), Stan Bieman (Carol), Joyce LaPointe (Gilles), and brothers-in-law Al Schill and Ken Lasso.

Loving mother of Vivian Steel Ireton (John). Cherished Omi of Julianne Vautour (Brian) and Corinne Gillespie and great-omi of Sam, Kate, Madigan and Emelia.

Survived by her sister Marga Birakowsky and many nieces and nephews. 

Predeceased by her husband George, brothers Ted and Mike.

Kalbfleisch JamesKALBFLEISCH, James (Jim) Grant  -  Of Waterloo died peacefully on Sunday, April 23, 2017 with family by his side.

He was the beloved husband of 54 years to Rebecca (nee Jardine); loving father of Jane, David (Danielle Droitsch), and Brian; and proud grandfather of Eleanor.

He is survived by his sister, Carol Kalbfleisch (Douglas Campbell); his brothers, Jack (Sharon) and Peter (Lynn); Rebecca's sisters, Margaret Romcke and Isabel Bruce; and her brother, Fred Jardine (Janie). Jim is also fondly remembered by many nieces, nephews, and friends.

Rhodes DouglasRHODES, Douglas Henry  -  At age 77, of Stratford, passed away peacefully at his residence on Sunday, April 23, 2017.

Born in Windsor, Ontario, and raised in Stratford, he was a graduate of Stratford Teachers College. Doug was lead singer in the well-known local band of the sixties 'The Revols'. He resided in Arizona for some years before moving back to Ontario.

Doug was predeceased by his mother Rose Hartung (nee Kreamer), stepfather Raymond 'Ab' Hartung and by his sister Sharon Scheirich (nee Rhodes).

 

HORST, Esther  -  Peacefully, at her home at RR 1, Elmira, on Saturday, April 22, 2017, passed away in her 91st year.

Wife of Elam Horst. Mother of Paul and Loreen Horst, Orvie and Marie Horst, all of RR 1, Elora, Cleon and Martha Horst of RR 1, Elmira, and Erma and Lloyd Martin of RR 4, Elmira. Survived by 31 grandchildren and 46 great-grandchildren.

Sister of Susannah (Mrs. Elo) Martin of RR 6, Mount Forest, Noah Weber of RR 1, Wallenstein, Rebecca and Amos Burkhart of RR 3, Wallenstein, and Annie Weber of RR 1, Wallenstein.

 

Burkhart AliceBURKHART, Alice  -  Peacefully, surrounded by her family, Alice (Bauman) Burkhart of Drayton passed away on Saturday, April 22, 2017, at the age of 77 years.

Alice was the loving wife of the late Ozias 'Oz' (2010) for more than 50 years.

She will be sadly missed by her children Sharon and her husband Brian Viknanek of Wasaga Beach, Derrick and his wife Delphine (Martin) of Elmira, and Pamela and her husband Douglas Woodburn of Drayton.

 

Hubbard MartyeHUBBARD, Martye  -  Born in Islandmagee, Co. Antrim, N. Ireland to Mary and Robert Adair. Martye was one of 9 children.

She trained at the Royal Victoria Hospital Belfast, studied midwifery at the Rottenrow Hospital Glasgow and took Queen’s District Nursing training in England. She had lots of good stories about private country nursing in N. Ireland.

During World War II, as part of the Queen Alexandra Imperial Military Nursing Service, Martye was one of the first British nurses to arrive at the port of Ackyab, Burma where she was responsible for 2 Casualty Clearance Stations. There she nursed on river barges, picking up the fallen allied and enemy soldiers from Casualty Clearance stations along the Brahmaputra River. Her wartime experience in Calcutta, New Delhi and Burma as a British Army lieutenant and nursing sister was a period of many highs and lows.

 

MacKenzie BlairMACKENZIE, Blair (Tree)  -  Blair passed away peacefully with his family by his side at Innisfree House on Saturday, April 22, 2017. He was 70 years old.

Blair is survived by his wife Marlene and daughters Tanya Bolitsky and Jody MacKenzie. Blair has the greatest son-in-law Tim Bolitsky and special granddaughter Shelby Bolitsky (he was so proud).

Also survived by his sisters Sharon Taylor (Bruce), Linda Maltby (Rick) and Trisha Hackbart (Brian), brother Paul Fraser and his longtime companion Judy Hanlan, mother-in-law Maryann Haehnel (the late Roy) and sister-in-law Monica Haehnel (the late Jerry). Will be missed by many cousins, nieces and nephews.
Predeceased by his parents Mary and Kenneth MacKenzie.

 

BARROS, Beatriz de Bairos  -  Passed away at Cambridge Memorial Hospital, after a valiant fought        battle, on Friday, April 21, 2017, at the age of 61 years.

Beloved wife of Jose Barros. Dear mother of Nelson (Sara) and Nancy. Cherished grandmother of Tiago and Mateo.

Survived by her siblings Maria (Jose), Jose (Conceicao), Helena (the late Tony), Antonio (Lourdes) and Manuel (the late Maria) and by many nieces, nephews, relatives and friends. Predeceased by her parents Ana Sousa Braga and Manuel Braga and by siblings Jose, Maria and Antonio.

Betty was the beloved wife of the late Edward John Sehl.

Gingerich SamuelGINGERICH, Samuel  -  Passed away peacefully with his family at his side on Wednesday April 19, 2017 at Innisfree House, Kitchener. Sam resided in New Hamburg and had farmed on the Gingerich homestead in Wilmot Centre. He was born 58 years ago in Kitchener.

Beloved husband of Mary Lou (Yantzi) Gingerich for almost 37 years. 

Loving father of Brandon and Jessie Gingerich, Ben Gingerich and fiancé Courtney Hobbs, all of Kitchener. Sadly missed by his grandchildren Claire, Leah and Samuel.
