EBY, Donald Jr. 'Don'  -  Passed away peacefully at St. Mary’s Hospital, Kitchener on December 29, 2017, age 78.

Loving husband of Marilyn for 52 years. Dear father of David (Dianne) and Doug (Sue). Cherished grandfather of Cody, Colin, Sarah, Matthew and Tia and great-grandfather of Blake.

He will be fondly remembered by many cousins and extended family.

Predeceased by his parents Donald and Josephine Eby.

 

JOUBERT, Barbara Lee  -  Died peacefully on December 29, 2017 in the comfort of her family.

She is survived by her husband Gerald (Gerry) Joubert, daughters Leanne Simpson (Rob) and Donna Joubert and grandsons Adam and Cole Simpson and Trey Joubert.

She is also survived by sisters Mary Parr (Jim) and Cathy Rocheleau (Ron).

Barb was born March 4, 1943, to Archibald and Mildred Fulton, both of whom predeceased her. Also predeceased by her precious son, Jimmy, and by loving siblings Archie and Pat. She was a woman of great strength and courage and will be missed by family and her large circle of friends.

Linda will be missed by her brother Douglas Taves. Predeceased by her parents Jacob and Irene (Walker) Taves, her foster brother Robert Stevenson and her sister Susan Taves in infancy.

She had been a member of the Perth Regiment IODE and Past President, a member of the Hospital Auxiliary, on the Board of the Children’s Aid Society from 1971-1975, had been a member of the Red Cross, the Festival Theatre, the ACW of St. James Church and volunteered for several local charitable organizations.

Dick was born in Trenton, ON and grew up in Belleville, ON where he graduated from Moira Secondary School. Dick held a B.Math from the University of Waterloo and was part-owner of Softart Microsystems Inc. with Ashok Patel, where they designed specialized modem communications firmware.

He was predeceased by his parents, Audrey and Elton McMurray and parents-in-law Roy and Evelyn Banks.

Loving mother of Dana (Garry) Gibbons of Huntsville, Tim (Sue Matsuoka) of Guelph and Terry (Ken Yackimec) of Lac La Biche, Alberta.

Grandmother of Michelle, Frank, Courtney, Ryan "Bear", Allen, Kathleen, Peter and Scott.

Great-grandmother of Tasia, Kendra, Olivia and Connor. She is also survived by her loving nieces and nephews from the Detroit area and in Slovakia.

 

Hayter SarahHAYTER, Sarah Lucille (nee Fallon)  -  (Born September 11, 1918.  Died December 29, 2017)  -  Born on a family farm near Port Dover, just as the Great War was coming to an end, Sarah later graduated from Hamilton General Hospital as a nurse and soon after joined the Royal Canadian Army Medical Corps.   Later, in WW11, she took her nursing skills to the Royal Canadian Navy. Following the end of her marriage to a naval pilot, she set out, in 1953, to begin a new life in the small, friendly city of Guelph.  There she raised her young son Bryan as a single mother and established a distinguished career as a public health nurse and, later, as an addictions counsellor.

Hicks AmyHICKS, Amy Marie  -  Amy departed to be with the Lord on December 28, 2017, at the age of 91.

Amy was the beloved wife of George Hicks for 66 years, loving mother of Janice and husband Gerry Lippert, grandmother to Seth and wife Melody Lippert, Amy and husband BJ Martin, and great-grandmother to Lucy Lippert.  

Amy was born in Florenceville, New Brunswick, to Fred and Helen Perry. She was their firstborn and only daughter, followed by four brothers, Fred, John, Neville and Frank. She acted as a second mother in some instances when needed. She was loved immensely by her family and she in turn had great love for them.

Willa is survived by her beloved husband of 52 years, Henry Westendorp. 

She was the cherished mother of Julius and Colleen Westendorp of Kitchener, Elden and Julie Westendorp of Drayton, Jared and Kate Westendorp of Clinton Township, Michigan, and Ezra and Robbie Westendorp of Harriston. 

She was the most adoring grandmother of Josephine, Nathan, Carly, Shaelyn, Justine, Hannah, Evan, Rachel, Emma, Benton and Hayden.

McKinnon JamesMcKINNON, James L.  -  (April 17, 1931 – December 28, 2017)  -  Passed away peacefully on December 28, 2017 with his family by his side.

He will be greatly missed by his wife of 61 years, Barbara, his children Campbell (Terrie), Sandra (Bryce), Peter (Karyn) and grandchildren Matthew and Amanda. Jim, affectionately known as Jimmy or George, made friends everywhere he went. 

He was an eternal optimist, with a wonderful sense of humour, who enjoyed sharing a firm handshake with everyone he met. Jim was born in Glasgow, Scotland and immigrated to Canada at the age of 22 with $100.00 in his pocket. He established himself as a respected Civil Engineer and later he went on to own his own company called 'Setchell and McKinnon Limited.'

 

Charlton NicolasCHARLTON, Nicolas Dale  -  (1981-2017)  -  It is with heavy hearts that we announce the unexpected passing of our beloved son Nic after many years of struggles and challenges with mental health issues. He was 36 years old.

He is dearly loved by his parents Gini and Dale Charlton, sister Alyssa Charlton (Gus Hulan), much loved adopted son Tristan, grandma Charlton, Ropp family, Bezpaly family, Verlinden family, many aunts, uncles and cousins.

The celebration of his life will be on Friday, January 5, 2018 at 11:00 a.m. at Henry Walser funeral home, Kitchener. Reception to follow. Cremation has taken place.
