Cherrey NeilCHERREY, Neil Ronald  -  At age 82, of Stratford, and formerly of Listowel, passed away peacefully at his residence on Wednesday, December 27, 2017 at Woodland Towers (Stratford). Born in Maryborough Township, son of the late Charles and Nelda (Campbell) Cherrey. 

Survived by his only sister Loreen Ingrey and husband Arthur of London. Neil is remembered by his nephews David Ingrey of London, William Ingrey and wife Joanne of Edmonton, a niece Lori Carter and husband David of London and a great-niece Erin Carter of London.

The family would like to sincerely thank the entire staff of Woodland Towers and Spruce Lodge for the wonderful care and compassion given to Neil. 

 

Elder EthelELDER, Ethel Mildred  -  At age 103, of Stratford, passed away peacefully at Cedarcroft Place (Stratford) on Wednesday, December 27, 2017. Born in Elma Township, daughter of the late Alex and Lillian (Young) Broughton.

Predeceased by her husband Thomas James Elder (1980).

Much loved mother of Donald, Florence Henry, Jim (Juanita Sauve), Robert (Donna Cleaveley), Georgina (Doug Winton), John (Lauree), Liz Exley along with 15 grandchildren, 21 great-grandchildren and 3 great-great-grandchildren.

Mildred is survived by siblings Lottie Hincks, Helen Henry, Georgina (Bob) Hennick and brother-in-law Ivan Hinz.

 

Silva MariaSILVA, Maria  -  With great sadness, her family announces that she passed away peacefully at home, with family by her side on Wednesday, December 27, 2017 in her 81st year.

Loving mother of Carlos (Cathy), Mary (Bill), Victoria, Albert (Vera) and Rosemary (Dinis). Cherished grandmother to Crystal (Jorge), Stephanie (Ryan), Michael (Jessica), Christopher (Tanya), Andrew (Michelle), Stacey, Vanessa (Fil) and Elisha (Rick). Proud great-grandmother to all her great-grandchildren. 

She will also be lovingly remembered by her sisters Natalia and Fernanda, as well as many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

Maria is reunited with her husband Manuel (2002). 

 

Newton JamesNEWTON, James 'Jim' Thomas Leslie  -  No one will argue that Jim Newton was 'one of a kind'. He died peacefully on December 27th at Guelph General Hospital, due to lung complications. Minutes before his death, the nurse reported that he was busily completing his daily crossword puzzle from the KW Record. 

He was born James Thomas Leslie Newton in Niagara Falls, ON on February 5, 1940. He started his working career as a teacher in Simcoe, where he met and married the love of his life, Peg Pauls. Teaching was fun for a while, but Daddio didn’t like to stick to the curriculum. So, it was off to Zettel Manufacturing, and then Walmart. Greeting at Walmart was his dream job. Anyone that entered Fairview Park Mall knows this to be a reality. He also took great pride in newspaper delivery, and writing for the New Hamburg Independent.

 

Muller MildredMULLER, Mildred Doreen  -  Passed away on December 27, 2017 at St. Joseph’s Health Centre in her 91st year.

She was predeceased by her husband Harold. 

She is survived by her children, Ann (Brian), Kim (Barbara), Nancy (Jim), seven grandchildren and four great grandchildren. 

Doreen lived life to its fullest. She was a devoted mother, active in her church, a dedicated volunteer and was well known for her wonderful sense of humour.

 

FISHER, Mabel  -  Passed away peacefully at St. Mary's General Hospital in Kitchener on Wednesday, December 27th 2017 in her 96th year. 

Devoted mother to Sheila Regehr, Scott Fisher, Harriet nee. Regehr Fisher Lahey (Rick Lahey), Randy Fisher, Mark Fisher and Cara Fisher. Loving Grandma to Maya, Morgan, Melissa, Dylan, Connor, Megan and Heather. Great-Grandma to eight and sister to Barbara Lalonde. 

Predeceased by her parents Ithamar and Bertha, husbands, Henry Regehr (1958) and Les Fisher (1995), siblings Doris Thompson, Ina Herod, Margaret Hunter, Lola Timpson, Maurice and Howard. Mabel will be fondly remembered by many extended family and friends. 

 

Rea AnnREA, Ann Margaret  -  With heavy hearts, we announce that Ann Margaret Rea passed away unexpectedly on Wednesday, December 27th, 2017 at the age of 58. 

Ann was a wonderful, friendly woman. She was the cleanest hoarder and the nicest 'crazy cat lady' you'd ever meet.  Ann loved to read, shop, and listen to music, especially The Beatles. She loved anything to do with Winnie the Pooh. Most of all, Ann was talkative; always eager to tell you a story or interrupt you on the phone. 

Ann will be dearly missed and lovingly remembered by her sister Jane Hornsey (Mike), brothers John Wright (Vicki), Dean Wright, Dave Wright, and Dan Wright, daughter Jennifer Rea, son John Rea, two grandchildren, and her many friends and neighbours. 

 

ORTON, Doris  -  Passed away with her children at her side on Tuesday, December 26, 2017, at the age of 72 years. 

Beloved wife of the late Stan Orton and the late Gordon Scott. 

Loving mother of Christina Scott, Bill Scott (Margaret) and Kim MacDermott (Jim). Cherished grandmother of Andrew Scott.

Survived by her brother David Hilborn (Maryanne) and her sister Linda Stark (Danny). Survived by many nieces and nephews.

 

Muir KarenMUIR, Karen Mary  -  Passed away on December 26, 2017 at Joseph Brant Hospital in Burlington, at the age of 61 after a short battle with cancer. Karen was formerly of Waterloo and Calgary.

Loving mother of Michael Muir of Petawawa and Heather Muir of Windsor. Survived by her spouse John Muir, brother Brian Busch, sister Cheryl Becker and her husband Rod and their daughter Katelin.

Predeceased by her parents Gilbert and Dorothy Busch.

 

Farrugia KristinaFARRUGIA, Kristina Anne  -  Passed away peacefully with family by her side at St. Mary’s General Hospital, Kitchener on Tuesday, December 26, 2017 at the age of 28.

Loving sister of Kayla Farrugia (Elijah), precious daughter of Joanne Puschelberg (John Taylor) and John Farrugia (Sharon Wright), and much beloved foster daughter of Pam Wajmer and Darcey and foster sister of Avery. One and only aunt of Maxton. Lovingly remembered by uncles and aunts, Rob and Teri, Duane and Lori, Jeremy and Dean, grandparents Ed and Anne (Brad), many cousins, and her step-brothers Matthew Barnes and Codie Ziegler.

Predeceased by her Nana and Papa, Lois and Ross Puschelberg.

 

Reibling DouglasREIBLING, Douglas Milton  -  Passed away on Tuesday, December 26, 2017 after a brave struggle with cancer.  Douglas resided all of his life at RR#2 Baden, where he was born 58 years ago.

Beloved son of the late Milton and Ruby (Berg) Reibling. Missed by his brother Burton, his aunt Doris Berg and numerous cousins and friends. 

Douglas was predeceased by his uncles and aunts Lloyd Berg, Ralph Berg, Harry & Evelyn Reibling, Philip & Hilda Wagner and Richard & Elvera Witherall.

Doug enjoyed cutting and chopping wood, was a steady employee even after his cancer diagnosis and was a passionate Montreal Canadiens fan.

Logan WalterLOGAN, Walter Edward  -  At age 69, of Stratford, passed away peacefully at his residence, surrounded by his loving family on Tuesday, December 26, 2017. Born in London, son of the late Arnold and Dorothy (Alyea) Logan and his step-father Alvin Kezar.

Survived by his best friend and true love of 51 years Adele (Huivenaar) Logan.

Loving father of Steve (Sherry) Logan, Sheri (Robert) McMichael and Jennifer Logan (Frank Hogan). Proud grandfather of Jordan (July Danielle), Nicole, Carter, Alyssa, Lauryn and Kelsey.

 

Wickenheiser HelenWICKENHEISER, Helen  -  At age 72, passed away peacefully at the Knollcrest Lodge, Milverton on December 26, 2017. Helen lived with Community Living Stratford prior to moving to Knollcrest Lodge.

Born in GadsHill, February 16, 1945, daughter of the late John and Edna (Quehl) Wickenheiser.

Helen is survived by her brother Roy Wickenheiser (Faye), the Wickenheiser sisters-in-law Ferne (Otto Weber), Audrey and Karon (Melvin Kelly) and many nieces, nephews and their families.
