Somerton JohnSOMERTON, John 'Jack' Joseph Sr.  -  Passed away peacefully, surrounded by loved ones on Wednesday, August 9, 2017 at the age of 73. 

Loving father of Ivy Somerton (Scott Tremblett), Debbie Porter (Dave Cook), and Johnny Somerton (Tina).  Cherished grandfather of Lori, James, Ashley, Shawn, and Stephanie. Proud great-grandfather of Tyler, Curtis, Nathan, Liea, Camdom, Melodie, Brodie, Jamie, Brooklyn, Chase, Gabriella, and Demish. 

He will also be lovingly remembered by his siblings; Betty, Eugene, Joey, Theresa, Peggy, Anne, Jeanie, Eddy and Billy, his longtime companion and friend Jacinthe Gallagher and her family, and many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. 

Jack is reunited with his beloved wife of 25 years, Alma (1988), his brother Andy, and his sister Bernice.

The family wishes to thank James and Lori Calder for opening up their home and to all those who have helped with Jack's care, especially Ashley Guenard. 

Relatives and friends will be received for Visitation at Coutt's funeral home, Cambridge, on Friday, August 11th from 7 – 9 p.m. and on Saturday, August 12th from 9:30 – 10:45 a.m. The Funeral Liturgy will be celebrated in the Coutt's Chapel on Saturday, August 12, 2017 at 11 a.m. Burial will follow at Mount View Cemetery. 

As expressions of sympathy, donations to the Wabana Boys and Girls Club of Bell Island would be gratefully appreciated by the family.
