For years, we have posted regional death notices as a free public service, while taking on the complete cost of publishing ourselves. We can no longer do so.

Without participating Funeral Centres, Cemeteries, Monument Suppliers and Local Businesses advertising with us, we can no longer run this website at a financial deficit.

We have received dozens of emails by folks upset at the discontinuation of our daily updates, and we apologize.  We also love this site, and considered it a great service to the public by accumulating and listing all Regional Obituaries in one spot.

Also, we appreciate the privacy to not contact the families of friends for funeral arrangements who may be shortly passing, as well as, friends not having to frequently check all local funeral centre websites for service information.

Freeman GeorgeFREEMAN, George Skanes (Tim)  -  (March 16, 1943 -  February 11, 2018)  -  At age 74. Formerly of Bell Island, NL passed away peacefully at Lisaard House on Sunday, February 11, 2018.

Predeceased by his beloved wife Susanna Skanes (2010), parents Fred & Jessie Skanes & sister Marjorie Kanis.

Leaving to mourn with fond & loving memories his children Frederick Skanes (Carla), Brian Skanes, Lori-Ann Lahey (Edward), Paula Skanes (Jamie), Susanne Skanes (Chris), grandchildren Erica Skanes (Kyle) & Matthew Skanes, great grandchildren Ethan, Autumn, Lorenzo & Charleigh.

Dear brother to Una Parsons (Jim), Lorraine Flemming (Ron), Margaret Rose (Charlie), Nancy Boyd (Gerald)as well as a large circle of nieces, nephews, friends & their families.

Funeral service to be held following cremation at Corbett funeral home, Cambridge, ON at 1pm on Friday, February 16, 2018, with visitation one hour prior. Luncheon to follow at Cambridge Newfoundland Club, 1500 Dunbar Road, Cambridge, ON.

As expressions of sympathy donations made to Lisaard House would be greatly appreciated.
