For years, we have posted regional death notices as a free public service, while taking on the complete cost of publishing ourselves. We can no longer do so.

Without participating Funeral Centres, Cemeteries, Monument Suppliers and Local Businesses advertising with us, we can no longer run this website at a financial deficit.

We have received dozens of emails by folks upset at the discontinuation of our daily updates, and we apologize.  We also love this site, and considered it a great service to the public by accumulating and listing all Regional Obituaries in one spot.

Also, we appreciate the privacy to not contact the families of friends for funeral arrangements who may be shortly passing, as well as, friends not having to frequently check all local funeral centre websites for service information.

Baker DerekBAKER, Derek Ian  -  At age 77, of Stratford, passed away peacefully surrounded by his family at VON Sakura House (Woodstock). Born in Darley Dale, Derbyshire, England, son of the late Ernest and Catherine (Bowler) Baker.

Survived by his true love and best friend Marlene (Waller) Baker of 52 years.

Proud father of Ian (Jane) Baker and Louise (Darryl) Lepp. Loving grandfather of Eve and Ben Lepp.

Derek will be remembered by his siblings Roy (Heather) Baker and Maureen Grimshaw, by his sister-in-law Joyce Baker and also by his nieces and nephews.

After 36 years with British Railways, Derek retired and 3 years ago he and Marlene moved to Stratford, Ontario, Canada. Derek’s biggest passion in life was his family. He also enjoyed many hours planning, landscaping and tending his gardens. 

In addition to his parents, Derek was predeceased by his mother and father-in-law, Ethel and George Waller, his brother Malcolm Baker, his brother-in-law Harold Grimshaw and sister-in-law Elaine Baker.

Family and friends are invited to a memorial visitation on Saturday, June 9, 2018 from 2-4 p.m. at the W.G. Young funeral home, Stratford.

As expressions of sympathy, memorial donations may be made to the VON Sakura House (Woodstock).
