For years, we have posted regional death notices as a free public service, while taking on the complete cost of publishing ourselves. We can no longer do so.

Without participating Funeral Centres, Cemeteries, Monument Suppliers and Local Businesses advertising with us, we can no longer run this website at a financial deficit.

We have received dozens of emails by folks upset at the discontinuation of our daily updates, and we apologize.  We also love this site, and considered it a great service to the public by accumulating and listing all Regional Obituaries in one spot.

Also, we appreciate the privacy to not contact the families of friends for funeral arrangements who may be shortly passing, as well as, friends not having to frequently check all local funeral centre websites for service information.

Dika ViolaDIKA, Viola Helen -  (known as Vi to all her friends and family)  -  Was born in Tisdale, Saskatchewan in 1932. She was the first child of Frank and Helen February. After a short only child reign, she became a big sister to twins, Elizabeth and Isabel, followed by Margaret, Julius and Lillian.  The family moved to Kenora, Ontario when Vi was about 15 years old. 

She enjoyed a long nursing career where she was loved and appreciated for her compassion and skill.  For part of her life belonged to the Eastern Star in Thunder Bay, Ontario, where she enjoyed the social aspects and volunteer work. She was a committed member of United Churches where she often sang in the choirs. The latter here in Cambridge, Cedar Hill United Church. 

She was mother to Richard Dika, Terry Dika Volchoff and Cynthia Dika. She will be missed dearly for all of her thoughtfulness and fairness. Vi always made every effort to treat her children equally. 

She is predeceased by her loving Father and Mother, her twin sisters Elizabeth Longe and Isabelle Longe and her only brother Julius February. 

Vi is survived by her two younger sisters Margaret Lee and Lillian February. Her proud children Richard Dika, Terry Dika Volchoff, Cynthia Dika and her partner Robert Nichols. Her loving grandchildren, Taylor Volchoff, Jaden Volchoff and his wife Jade Flynn Volchoff, Jaclyn MacDonald and her husband Jay, Barry Nichols and his wife Vikki. She was equally proud of her eight great-grandchildren Flynn Volchoff, Adelaide Volchoff, Valen Volchoff in the U.S.A., Victoria MacDonald in Canada, and Luke Nichols, Callum Nichols, Toby Nichols and Kasey Nichols in England. 

Vi will also be missed by numerous nieces and nephews whom she also loved dearly. 

Vi loved her family, friends, music and food (she was an excellent cook). Her devotion and love of God, always kept her strong. As she said in the letter she left to her three children 'May my words of strength and my spirit remain with you forever.' Viola Helen Dika (December 8, 1932 - June 8, 2018) you        will always live in our hearts. 

The family would like to thank her many friends and neigbours who looked out for her. 

At Viola’s request, cremation has taken place. A Memorial Service will be held at Cedar Hill United Church, 241 Cedar St., Cambridge, on Friday, June 15, 2018 at 2p.m.
