Gerard was the son of James, a school headmaster and Margaret (Campbell) of Lanarkshire, Scotland and was predeceased by his sister Marjory Stubbs.

Loving husband and generous provider to Moyra Ann (Braid), he was father to Christopher (Diane Brannigan, Lancaster), Richard (Sharon), Maureen (Colleen) and Andrew (Karen) and grandfather to Gregory Michael, James, Alison, Cameron, Alanna, Stephen and Michael (Stephanie).

James was a dedicated taxi cab owner/operator of car #2 for Waterloo Taxi for over 40 years.

STIELER, Lillian Beatrice  -  (1922 - 2017)  -  Passed away peacefully at St. Mary's Hospital on Saturday, December 30, 2017.

Cremation has taken place and a Celebration of Life gathering will be held Saturday, January 13, 2017 2-4 p.m. at the Erb Good Family funeral home, Waterloo.

Crofoot KathleenCROFOOT, Kathleen Lois  -  Was called home to be with her Lord Jesus unexpectedly, in her 88th year on December 30, 2017. 

Loving and devoted wife to the late Bob Crofoot, dearly loved mother of Bruce (Alice) Crofoot, Ken (Jan) Crofoot and Linda (Chris) Pernfuss. She will be deeply missed by her cherished grandchildren, Alvin and Julia, Lisa and Jeffrey, and Benjamin and Lucas.

Lois was born and raised in Simcoe where she met Bob and later they both earned degrees at McMaster University. She lived a life of service to others while pursuing her many interests. She served as President of the Baptist Convention of Ontario and Quebec in the late 70's and later dedicated herself to volunteer on the Board of McMaster Divinity College, ultimately earning an honorary doctorate.

 

Lukavsky JohnLUKAVSKY, John Kristian  -  At age 76, of Guelph ON, passed away peacefully at home, surrounded by the love of his family, on Saturday, December 30, 2017. 

Son of John and Mary, and brother to Peter, John is survived by his loving wife of 48 years, Marcela and by his children Kristina and her husband Robin and Alexander and his wife Kristen. He is the cherished grandfather of Andrew, Lucy and Vyolet.

John will be remembered for his sharp mind, his sense of humour, and for his immense love of family.

He will be fondly remembered by many cousins and extended family.

JOUBERT, Barbara Lee  -  Died peacefully on December 29, 2017 in the comfort of her family.

She is survived by her husband Gerald (Gerry) Joubert, daughters Leanne Simpson (Rob) and Donna Joubert and grandsons Adam and Cole Simpson and Trey Joubert.

She is also survived by sisters Mary Parr (Jim) and Cathy Rocheleau (Ron).

Barb was born March 4, 1943, to Archibald and Mildred Fulton, both of whom predeceased her. Also predeceased by her precious son, Jimmy, and by loving siblings Archie and Pat. She was a woman of great strength and courage and will be missed by family and her large circle of friends.

Beloved wife of the late James C. Neilson. Born in Winnipeg, Manitoba, daughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. H. St. G. Lee. Loving mother of Victoria (Renzo) Frati, London; James (Geraldine) Neilson, Kitchener; Rick (Cyndi) Neilson, Detroit.

She had been a member of the Perth Regiment IODE and Past President, a member of the Hospital Auxiliary, on the Board of the Children’s Aid Society from 1971-1975, had been a member of the Red Cross, the Festival Theatre, the ACW of St. James Church and volunteered for several local charitable organizations.

 

McMurray RichardMCMURRAY, Richard - Passed away on December 29, 2017 following surgery in Kitchener, Ontario at the age of 58.

Dick was born in Trenton, ON and grew up in Belleville, ON where he graduated from Moira Secondary School. Dick held a B.Math from the University of Waterloo and was part-owner of Softart Microsystems Inc. with Ashok Patel, where they designed specialized modem communications firmware.

He was predeceased by his parents, Audrey and Elton McMurray and parents-in-law Roy and Evelyn Banks.

Loving mother of Dana (Garry) Gibbons of Huntsville, Tim (Sue Matsuoka) of Guelph and Terry (Ken Yackimec) of Lac La Biche, Alberta.

Grandmother of Michelle, Frank, Courtney, Ryan "Bear", Allen, Kathleen, Peter and Scott.

Great-grandmother of Tasia, Kendra, Olivia and Connor. She is also survived by her loving nieces and nephews from the Detroit area and in Slovakia.

 

Hayter SarahHAYTER, Sarah Lucille (nee Fallon)  -  (Born September 11, 1918.  Died December 29, 2017)  -  Born on a family farm near Port Dover, just as the Great War was coming to an end, Sarah later graduated from Hamilton General Hospital as a nurse and soon after joined the Royal Canadian Army Medical Corps.   Later, in WW11, she took her nursing skills to the Royal Canadian Navy. Following the end of her marriage to a naval pilot, she set out, in 1953, to begin a new life in the small, friendly city of Guelph.  There she raised her young son Bryan as a single mother and established a distinguished career as a public health nurse and, later, as an addictions counsellor.
