Welch AnneWELCH, Anne  -
August 09, 1924 - April 15, 2024

Anne Welch age 99, passed away peacefully, at Lakeridge Health Hospital in Oshawa, ON on April 15, 2024.

Anne was predeceased by her husband Harold, parents Charlie and Florence, sister Betty Dockray and her grandson Adam Welch.

Anne is survived by 2 daughters. Lydia (Gerald), Jo-Anne (Joe), 5 sons Geoffrey, Glenn (Sandy), Richard (Marie), Michael (Donna) and Stuart.

Anne had 9 grandchildren, 13 great grandchildren and her beloved Shih Tzu dog “Sheva”.

Anne was a war bride from Yorkshire, England.

She worked in a munitions plant where she met her future husband Harold, a member of the RCAF, at a local dance.

They married in 1944. A year later Anne immigrated to Canada by herself and lived with relatives in Uxbridge, until her husband could join her after his discharge from the RCAF.

They later moved to Oshawa where she has resided for the past 65 years.

Anne was a former employee (part-time) at Canada Post for 16 1/2 years, and retired at age 65.

Anne loved her home, knickknacks and her English garden. Her garden was very special to her and she was determined to have a plant filling every postage stamp space. She loved dancing, boating, flowers and Big Band music from the 1930's and 40's.

The family would like to recognize the professional staff at Extendicare Oshawa, for their exceptional care. You are very special and amazing people. You were part of her extended family in the final stage of her life.

Thank you for your role in trying to keep her spirits up on a daily basis and taking care of her.

We would also like to thank the professional staff at  ARMSTRONG FUNERAL HOME  and Thornton Cemetery for their excellent service.

A private celebration of life will occur at a later date.

As an expression of sympathy, memorial donations may be made to Durham Region Humane Society.

On line condolences may be left with  armstrongfh.ca .
