SMITH, Shirley Elizabeth - Shirley Elizabeth Smith, of Toronto, born on November 27, 1923 in La Tuque, Quebec, peacefully passed away at age 94 on June 11, 2018 in Lakeridge Health (Oshawa Hospital).
Loving partner to Lloyd Thomson and to the late Gord Smith and sister-in-law to Kay Hardcastle (deceased).
Shirley was known for her great sense of humour and generosity; she will be sorely missed by her large family and friends.
Shirley is survived by her children: Don Smith (Sharon), Lyn Maguire (Brian), Barbara Garlinski (Glenn), Deborah Smith (Patti) and Donna Beer (Doug) and her step-children Judy Birch, Cathy Woodworth (Rick) and Lori Sexton.
She is also survived by her 9 grandchildren: Tracy Adams, Sheri Garlinski, Geoff Smith, Kelly MacDonald (Kevin), Erin Madonia (Dylan), Shawn Beer (Michelle), Stephanie Beer, Curtis Woodworth and Kelly Woodworth. She is also survived by her 12 great-grandchildren: Taylor Garlinski, Kailee Adams, Cassidy Adams, Austin Pavao, Ethan Madonia, Lily Rossi-Smith, Connor MacDonald, Devon Madonia, Brooklynn Beer, Ryan MacDonald, Dominic Rossi-Smith and Annie Beer.
Donations in Shirley's name to the Salvation Army are welcome and appreciated.
Special thanks to Paulina and Rebecca at Lakeridge Health (Oshawa Hospital) and the staff at the Village of Taunton Mills Retirement Home in Whitby, who provided great care to Shirley.
Friends and family are welcome to attend a funeral service on Thursday, June 14th at 3:00 p.m. at Smith's Funeral Home, 1167 Guelph Line in Burlington, ON.
