Thompson MaryTHOMPSON, Mary Clare Ramsay  -  January 10, 1952 - Chester, England September 9, 2018 - Calgary, Alberta Mary Clare Ramsay Thompson passed away peacefully in Calgary on Sunday, September 9, 2018 with the first light of the day with her son and daughter by her side.

Mary Clare was born in Chester, England to Robert and Geraldine Thompson on January 10, 1952.

At the age of 18 months her family moved to Toronto where Mary Clare, valedictorian and graceful ballet dancer, blossomed into a woman.

She passionately protested the war in Vietnam and was a vibrant part of the movement that preached peace, love and understanding.

Mary moved to Edmonton where she graduated from Grant McEwan College with Audio Visual Arts. The change of scenery didn't change her fierce spirit. Mary married in 1985 and finally found home in Calgary where she raised her family. Her pets played a big role in her life as did her wicked sense of humour.

Mary could be delightfully dark and startlingly brilliant. Always caring deeply for others Mary touched hearts and made friends wherever she went. She was an incredible mother, charming, lovely and sweet, she raised her two children selflessly with joy and pride.

Mary Clare was preceded in death by her parents and her brother, John. Left to mourn and treasure her memory are her son Robert James, daughter Elizabeth Clare and many close friends. Mary Clare had a generous and loving heart and a tender spiritual soul. She was taken too soon at age 66 to be with her family and God. Her wonderful smile will always be remembered.

A Celebration of Mary Clare's Life will be held at McInnis & Holloway, (Fish Creek, 14441 Bannister Rd. S.E., Calgary, AB) on Sunday, September 16, 2018 at 2:00 p.m. Graveside Service will be held at St. James Cemetery, Toronto, ON at a later date. Reception to follow at the funeral home.
