Newman VictorNEWMAN, Victor G.   - 1927 - 2019   Victor G. Newman, formerly of Scarborough, Ontario, passed away unexpectedly on January 3, 2019.

Victor was a loving husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather.

Victor is survived by his wife, Anne; daughter Debbie Whitman (Shane); son Dan Newman (Karen); grandchildren Kim O'Brien (Jamie), Kelly Whitman, Shane Whitman (Jaye), Alanna Newman (Stuart), and James Newman.

His many great-grandchildren; Tyler Whitman, Rhianna Davis, Braeden O'Brien, Makenna O'Brien, Pierce O'Brien, Avery Eggleton, Riley Eggleton, Olivia Whitman and Ben Whitman.

Victor immigrated to Canada from Dublin, Ireland, on the S.S. Marine Falcon in 1948. He proudly shared stories of his adventures landing in New York City before taking the train to Canada.

It was in Toronto that he met his loving wife of nearly 65 years, Anne. A devoted parishioner of Guardian Angels Church, Orillia, he rarely missed Mass, and carried his rosaries with him wherever he went. He will be remembered for his wit, his charm, his sharp mind and loving nature. Victor or 'Grandpa' was greatly loved and is dearly missed.

A visitation will be held at the Mundell Funeral Home, Orillia. on Friday, January 11, 2019 from 2 - 4 p.m. and 7 - 9 p.m. Parish prayers will be held in the parlours at 6:45 p.m.  A Funeral Mass will be held at Guardian Angels Catholic Church, 115 West St. N., Orillia, on Saturday, January 12, 2019 at 11 a.m.

To help celebrate our favourite leprechaun, everybody is asked to wear something green at the funeral and visitation.

In lieu of flowers, donations to the Orillia Soldiers' Memorial Hospital Foundation would be greatly appreciated.
