CROSSLEY, Elizabeth "Bette" Crossley   -  Of Toronto, Ontario, passed away peacefully, on Monday, April 8, 2024, in her 95th year.

 

Predeceased by her parents, Ernie and Maude (Feast) Crossley; sisters, Joan Hartin (Ev) and Irene Laughlin (William T.); and brother, Jim E. Crossley (Marian) (Judy Pitt).

Predeceased also by her dear nephew, John Hartin, who is survived by his wife, Joan and their children, Kathleen (Kurt), Adric and Nyssa (Dave).

 

Bette is survived by nephew, Bill Laughlin (Cherie), their children, Christa (Chris) and Jennifer (Tanya); and nephews, Tom Laughlin and Jim D. Crossley.

 

Bette lived a long life of service to young people as an Akela of the 17th Cub Pack in London, Ontario. Later, Bette served as a teacher and finally, a supervisor, working at many schools for the City of Toronto, Childcare Services Division.

 

After 37 years of service, she retired from her final school, Hollis Daycare, in 1998. Bette was a long-term member of St. Cuthbert's Anglican Church in Toronto.

 

She will be missed by her dear friends in Toronto and in Boynton Beach, Florida, where she spent her winters for 20 years.

 

Special thanks to Joanne Townson for her tireless assistance for the past several years.

 

Charitable contributions in her name would be appreciated to the Terry Fox Foundation, ALS or to the Charity of Your Choice.

 

A memorial visitation will be held at Forest Lawn Funeral Home, 1997 Dundas Street East, London, ON, on Monday, May 13, 2024, at 12:30 p.m., with a memorial service to follow at 1:00 p.m. in the chapel, officiated by the Rev. Canon Janet Read-Hockin of St. Cuthbert's, Leaside, Toronto.
