Hirons AnthonyHIRONS, Anthony Charles  - 76, passed away peacefully with his daughters at his side, on December 12, 2017 at the Rekai Centre in Toronto.

Tony was born March 14, 1941 in Cambridge, England.

He was adopted by his loving parents William Cynog Hirons and Clarice Mary (nee Cartmel), both deceased, and grew up in Chester, England and in the Brecon Beacons in Wales.

Tony joined the British army out of high school, eventually joining the Secret Air Service.

Upon leaving the army, Tony immigrated to Toronto, Canada where he met his future wife Dianne Charlotte (nee Pohlman, deceased). Together they had 3 children – twin daughters Megan Clarice and Johanna Nina, and son Nicholas Martin. While in Canada, Tony discovered a passion for wine that led him to start his own wine agency, The Merchant Vintner.

Tony had colleagues and friends that spanned the globe. He cherished the relationships he built with the people he had the pleasure of working with over the years.

Tony believed in living life to the fullest. He was generous and giving. He lived for good food, good wine and good company and was always pleased to share.

Tony is survived by Megan and husband Oliver Mahon, Johanna and husband Michael Radziwon, Nick and partner Marnie Williamson, grandchildren Terran, Phoenix, Ash, Wren and Ignatius and by his in-laws Barbara O'Lynnger, Wayne Johnson and Dr. Cheryl Pohlman.

A brunch will be held in Tony's honour in Toronto on the 20th of May at 11 a.m. RSVP to meganhirons@ hotmail.com for further details.

Please come and join us in some good food, good wine and good company as we celebrate the wonderful times we shared with Tony.

Tony's ashes will be spread in the mountains above Gigondas, France as was his final request.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that a donation to the UNHCR or to Ups and Downs Calgary Down Syndrome Association be made in his name.
