Christie JamesCHRISTIE, James Richard  - A rare and special man November 8, 1952 - January 27, 2018

A consummate gentleman and a man of immense integrity, James was patient, kind, modest and always ready with a warm smile.

Described as "an encyclopedia that could walk," he was willing to help and teach others at any time.

His wit was legendary – intelligent, insightful and at times wonderfully silly.

He was a raconteur but the writing of stories was a serious passion for his 40 years at The Globe and Mail deftly covering the Leafs, the Masters, Olympic Games and so much more.

James was the master of the lead, drawing readers in and not letting them go. His columns reflected his genuine interest in people and his many awards reflected his skill. His love for his wife Tanya was limitless and their friendship, devotion and humour withstood all challenges.

James was devoted to his children, James and Ricky and to making their childhood a time of wonder and adventure. He was so proud of each triumph. James was a rare and special man.

Visitation will be held from 2:00 until 3:00 p.m. at the Jerrett North York Funeral Homes, 6191 Yonge Street, Toronto, until time of the Service of Remembrance, which will be held in the chapel on Saturday, February 10, 2018 at 3:00 p.m.

In lieu of flowers, contributions in James' memory may be made to the Salvation Army.
