Abraham AnneABRAHAM, Anne Alexis  - January 18, 1944 - March 30, 2018

On Good Friday 2018 Anne Alexis Abraham, sister of Diana Abraham, aunt of Alexandra Abraham-Mertens and great-aunt of Ivy Anne and Ella Norah Patricia Abraham De Vos, left us to be reunited with her mother Patricia Abraham, who predeceased her in 2017, her father Arthur and siblings Desmond, Elizabeth, Alexander, Christine, Marcelle, Joan Margaret and Marie Louise Abraham, who tragically predeceased her in Guyana in 1964.

Anne, who took early retirement after a successful career with Bell Canada 'to play golf', was in her last years heartbreakingly debilitated by the painful consequences of Multiple System Atrophy (MSA) and Systemic Lupus which she had battled for over 25 years.

Her stoicism and unimaginable strength in the face of her suffering were a marvel to the many who knew and cared for her, as was her determination to not be defeated by the cruel hand which she had been dealt.

We are thankful that in her last days Anne was surrounded by a family of relatives and friends and the sounds of her great-nieces who made her smile. We are also grateful to the wonderful team of caregivers at the Terrace, New Horizons Tower, who sympathetically cared for our beloved sister and aunt.

Anne will be remembered for her generosity, humility, dry sense of humour, straight-talking, brilliant brain and enjoyment of food. She was truly one of a kind and her departure leaves a deep sadness in the hearts of all those who loved her.

A celebration of her adventurous spirit and courage will be held in July.
