KASPER, Frederick Moritz Kasper
April 2, 2026
Passed away at his home on Thursday April 2, 2026 at the age of 99. He is survived by his wife Vancy, and his two sons and their wives: Fred Gordon (Silvia Lee) and Max William (Esther Ricketts).
Frederick Moritz Kasper was born in Czechoslovakia and educated in CSR and West Germany. Before the war, as a talented young artist, Fred was offered a spot at the Dresden Art Academy, and he continued painting all through his life. After the war he was interred in, and subsequently escaped from, a Russian Labour camp.
He immigrated to Canada in 1953 and married Vancy Gordon in 1955. His first job in Canada was in management for Telfa Paper Box Company and subsequently worked in advertising and production for Southam Press and the J.J. Brennan Agency. In 1974 he established own advertising agency, Kasper and Gordon, where he worked until his retirement in 1995. His great passion was always art. He was an excellent watercolourist, and some of his paintings are hanging in corporations including RBC, Bell, and others. After retirement, he and Vancy traveled extensively, including a trip around Cape Horn and a tour to Russia. He also enjoyed writing and was slowly working on a book about Duke, their beloved dog.
