ANTONIO, Adriano Laluyan - Age 82, of Markham, passed away peacefully in the early hours of Monday, December 28, 2020, at Markham Stouffville Hospital, with his devoted wife, Marcela, at his bedside.
He was born on January 20, 1938, in the town of Dueñas, Iloilo Province, Philippines, the son of the late Adriano Sr. and Salvacion (Laluyan). Adriano graduated from Central Philippine University and University of San Agustin.
In addition to teaching at his alma mater and at the University of San Agustin, Adriano also worked as a Medical Technologist at the Regional Health Laboratory, Region 6, in Iloilo City, Iloilo Province, Philippines, and helped his father run the family farm.
Jun (as he was fondly called) likewise worked with YMCA, San Pablo City, Laguna as youth secretary for almost 2 years.
He married Marcela (Gamboa) on April 13, 1967, in Iloilo City, a marriage which lasted for more than 53 years. He and his family migrated to Toronto, Ontario in 1973, where he became an active member of his community, worked at Wellesley Hospital, and ran a successful catering business with his wife until he retired.
A devout Christian, Mr. Antonio embodied his faith by living a life in service to others, providing help to all who needed it. He was known for his loving nature, kind humor, and generous spirit, welcoming all who came to his home. He was loved dearly by his family and his friends.
Mr. Antonio is survived by his loving wife, Marcela Antonio; daughters Anthea Antonio and Jeannette Kim Antonio; sons and their spouses, Jovey Ailfred Antonio and his partner Lee Singleton, and Adriano G Antonio III and his wife Theresa Marquardt; brothers, Gerardo Antonio and Tomas Antonio; sister Elvira Antonio Ramos; grandchildren Benjamin Antonio, Zoe and Logan Singleton; many nieces, nephews, grand nieces and grand nephews.

Donations to the Adriano Antonio Honorarium Fund at Markham Stouffville Hospital can be made in lieu of flowers.
