BEATTY, Sheila "Kelly" -
August 12, 1937 - August 4, 2024
With profound sadness, we announced the passing of Sheila “Kelly” Beatty, a beloved mother, grandmother, and friend who left us peacefully on August 4, 2024, at the age of 86, eight days shy of 87th birthday.
Kelly passed away peacefully in her sleep at AgeCare Samac in Oshawa.
Kelly was the beloved wife of David (Beatty) for 53 years before his passing in 2013.
She was also the loving mother of Greg (Rungarun), of Bangkok, Heather (Gord) of Grafton, and Dereck “Chips”, who predeceased us in 1996. Kelly will be sadly missed by her grandchildren, Hollie (Varouj), Courtney (Eric), and Natchariya (“Mai”).
She was predeceased by her husband David, her son, Chips, and her brother, Michael Schofield (Nancy). Kelly was born on August 12, 1937, in Saint John, New Brunswick. After moving to Toronto, Ontario and meeting her husband David, she lived in Pembroke, Thunder Bay and Sarnia.
In 1972, the family moved to Oshawa where she spent the most fulfilling years of her life. The home on Ascot Court became a beacon for neighbourhood kids. Kelly operated a daycare there, affectionately known as “Pooh Corner”. It served as a daytime home to more than 60+ kids.
Kelly loved good conversation and weekend jaunts to Stewart Island in Muskoka, the summer home of her Stewart relatives.
Kelly’s sense of humour and spirit remained strong to the end. Soon after entering retirement living at Atria, The Court at Brooklin, she became a “Connection Ambassador” sporting Elton-John style rimmed glasses and outfits nearly as colorful. She was voted the “most popular person” on her wing. She proudly displayed that certificate on the wall, along with family photos. A Private Service will be held at a later date.
The family asks that donations be made to the Oshawa Cancer Clinic in Sheila “Kelly” Beatty’s memory. Kelly’s legacy of love, kindness and strength will forever live in our hearts of those who were fortunate enough to know her.
She will be deeply missed and forever remembered.
