PITKIN, Capt. Charles Edward, CD, - Charles died at his home in Kanata, Ontario, on May 30, 2022, aged 40.
He grew up in North Toronto, and attended Blessed Sacrament School and Lawrence Park Collegiate.
In 2002, he was commissioned into the Royal Regiment of Canada.
He served with the Royal Canadian Regiment in Afghanistan and on a U.N. mission in South Sudan.
In 2012, Charles joined the second battalion Princess Patricia's Canadian Light Infantry and was serving at National Defence Headquarters.
Charles was awarded the General Campaign Star South West Asia, the General Service Medal South West Asia, the United Nations Medal for service in South Sudan and the Canadian Forces Decoration.
He had also been awarded parachute wings.
Charles is survived by his wife, Andrea; his parents, Brian and Joanne of Huntsville, Ontario; his father and mother-in-law, Max and Jan Marechaux of Toronto; his sister, Victoria of Edinburgh, Scotland; and his nieces, Lyra and Nora.
Cremation has taken place. A memorial service will take place on September 25, 2022.
