SAUVE, Claude Georges, P.Eng., - It is with heavy hearts and deep sadness that we announce the peaceful passing of Claude Georges Sauve on December 26, 2020, at Sunnybrook Veterans Centre, in his 97th year.
Devoted husband of the late Joyce Sauve, he was one of a kind and a true gentleman.
Loving father of Anna Sauve, Donna Sauve-O'Rourke (Brian) and Claudia Sauve-Kendall (Bill), his life journey was an example and positive influence on his grandsons, Shane, Brandon, Raymond and Derek, as well as to step-grandsons, Andrew, Bradley and Connor.
Born in Hawkesbury to Adelard and Dora Sauve November 21, 1923, Claude grew up in Cornwall.
He was a WWII Navy Veteran, volunteering in 1942 as bugler on HMCS Cornwallis in Halifax and then serving on the frigate HMCS St. Catharines. When he returned after his tour of duty, he attended Carlton University and McGill University, after which he followed with a long and rewarding career at Pittsburgh Paint and Glass (PPG), relocating from Montreal to Toronto.
All three of his daughters grew up knowing how to use a hammer and a pry bar, and we thank him for this, and for teaching us to appreciate nature.
While we are heart-broken over our loss, we take comfort in the fact that Dad had a long and very fulfilling life, uncomplicated by illness, and for this, we are forever grateful.
The family sincerely appreciates the wonderful staff at Sunnybrook Veterans Center for their care and comfort for Dad in his last months.
Following Dad's wishes, a cremation has taken place and Celebration of Life will be arranged at a later date.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations, if desired, may be made to Sunnybrook Foundation, in care of the Veterans Centre.
