Bonnie Margaret Edith Collacutt (née Fortier)

It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of Bonnie Margaret Edith Collacutt (née Fortier), who died peacefully on November 22, 2024, at the age of 83. Bonnie was a beloved wife, mother, grandmother, sister, and friend, whose warmth, generosity, and passion for education touched the lives of many.
Bonnie is survived and deeply missed by her husband of 61 years, Dave Collacutt, and her children: Shelley Collacutt Miller (John Miller), Laura Zeidler (Robert Zeidler), and Karen Collacutt (Kevin Rost). She was a proud and loving grandmother to Will, Sara, David, Julia, Steven, Emily, and Mathew. Bonnie is also survived by her brother Jerry Fortier (Catherine Fortier), as well as her many nieces, nephews, and extended family members.
Born in Pickering, Ontario, on September 5, 1941, Bonnie grew up in the Rouge Valley with her brother Jerry and her parents, Maureen (Fergie) and Arthur Fortier. She met her lifelong love, Dave, at Mosport, and together they built a rich life filled with love, family, and adventure. They settled in King Township, where they raised their three daughters and shared their rural property with an assortment of animals and a flourishing garden. Bonnie’s passion for education extended from teaching in classrooms to building a successful educational software business with Dave.
In the mid-1990s, Bonnie and Dave retired to a beautiful waterfront property on Lake Simcoe, where they hosted countless gatherings for family and friends, creating treasured memories. Bonnie’s wide circle of friends included members of “Table 12,” Grace United Church, Ruah, Grandmothers to Grandmothers, and Earth Drum.
A Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday, November 30, 2024, at 11:00 a.m. at Grace United Church, 350 Grove St. E., Barrie, L4M 2R7. A reception will follow. Visitation will take place at Grace United Church on Friday, November 29, 2024, from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m.
Bonnie’s love, kindness, and passion for life will remain in the hearts of all who knew her.
