THOMAS, Deidre Thomas - 84, passed peacefully, at Mississauga Hospital on October 28, 2023, after a lengthy and courageous battle with kidney disease.
Deidre was born on April 4, 1939, only child to Preston and Constance in Nettlestone, Isle of Wight.
Deidre was a kind, gentle soul who always was quick to say reassuring words to those who loved her. In 1960, Deidre moved to Bristol, England, with husband, Brian.
In 1966, they relocated to Montreal, QC, Canada, for Brian's pursuit of a career in Canada's aerospace program, while Deidre focused on their growing family.
After moving to Etobicoke, ON, in 1974, Deidre began building her career in Medical Administration at Toronto Western and St. Michael's Hospitals. In 1993, Deidre retired in Georgetown, ON, and found joy in her love of cats, her beautiful garden, travelling, drawing and painting.
Predeceased by husband, Brian (2020); Deidre is survived by sons, Ashley (Setsuko), Christopher (Theresa), and David (Sandra); grandchildren, Alexandra, John (Chandos), Connor (Ashly), Tess, and Loïc; cherished British ex-pat friends from the McDonnell Douglas and SPAR Aerospace years; and beloved Georgetown neighbours.
The family would like to thank the loving care shown to Deidre at Camilla Care, Port Credit Residence, and Mississauga Hospital.
The family will have a celebration of life at a later date in 2024.
