July 26, 1934 - February 16, 2024
 

Passed in Uxbridge Cottage Hospital on Friday, February 16th, 2024 at the age of 89.

 

Lovingly remembered by his wife Shirley (nee Empringham) of 64 years as well as his children; Karen (Murray), Lynn, Barbara (Roger), Sandra (Michael) and Ray (Natasha).

 

Grandpa to:  Kimberly (Kyle), Thomas (Angie), Jamie (Cody), Joshua, Cassandra, Sydney, Haley, Alexander and Matthew.  Great Grandpa to Jameson.

 

Brother to Marean Ward.

 

Predeceased by his parents, Burnett & Lillian (nee Parrott) and his sister Mary Jean.

 

Donald spent his life in the Balsam area (North Pickering) and was very active in Mt. Zion United Church (Stewarts for 59 years, Session for 50 years, the Food Grains Project and much more.) 

 

He did all this in addition to running a dairy farm and spending time with his family (camping trips, hayrides, toboggan rides and Sunday afternoon drives).  His hobbies included wood working and antique tractors. 

 

It was a life well-lived with hard work, love, laughter, friends and family and he will be greatly missed by all who knew him.

 

Visitation at BARNES MEMORIAL FUNERAL HOME, 5295 Thickson Rd. N Whitby on Monday Feb 19th, form 2:00 – 4:00 pm and Tuesday from 1:00 pm until time of service in the Barnes Chapel Tuesday at 2:00 pm
