ENDRENYI, Dr. Laszlo - (PhD) Professor Emeritus (U of T) - It is with profound sadness to announce Laszlo’s passing on December 14, 2020.
He will be greatly missed by his loving wife Veronica, his sister-in-law Edit and by many of his friends, colleagues and students from all over the world.
Predeceased by his first wife Agota and his brother John.
Dr. Endrenyi was a highly respected researcher and a trailblazer in the field of Pharmacokinetics. A Chemical Engineer with a doctorate in chemistry, he was sought after as an expert in statistics as well as kinetics.
He sat on the board of Directors of the American Statistical Association and was a fellow of the Canadian Society of Pharmaceutical Scientists. He served as president of the latter, receiving its Lifetime Achievement Award. He served the University of Toronto in various positions including its Governing Council and was associate Dean of Graduate Studies.
Laszlo received an honorary doctorate from the Semmelweis University of Medicine in Budapest and was elected to be a honorary member of the Hungarian Society for Experimental and clinical Pharmacology. He served the University as Chair and vice-provost, and represented the University on the board of Hungarian Research Institute of Canada. Research Ancillary of the University of Toronto. His career included publishing 2 books and over 180 research papers. Laszlo was regularly invited to speak at international meetings well into his retirement.
Laszlo was a cultured man, loving classical music, fine arts, reading and travelling. A wonderful and kind man, Laszlo was known for his modesty, loyalty and a great sense of humour.
A private service will be held. A celebration of his life will be announced post-covid.
