Much loved wife of John for 44 years.
Loving and most cherished mother of Michael Piggott of Toronto, Katherine Babony and her husband Mark of Burlington, dear grandmother of Tristan, Jacob, AJ and Christian.
Loving daughter of Peggy and the late Albert Bernardo, dear sister of Linda VanVeen and her husband Jack and Tony Bernardo and his wife Lori.
Vicky will be fondly remembered by many close friends, nieces and nephews.
Vicky was a fighter since birth, born 12 weeks early at only 2.6lbs. At age 3 Dr. Mustard of the Toronto Hospital for Sick Children successfully performed a patenductus on Vicky– a revolutionaryopen-heart surgery. In her final years, the doctors marvelled at how strong she was, beating 6 reoccurrences of cancer over 5 years.
She had a loving and happy childhood.
As a mother, she taught us how to love life and take care of oneanother. Her husband was always by her side, steadfast in his love and care. Vicky proudly proclaimed that her life was well lived. She was not ready to leave us, and we were not ready to let her go.
A reception celebrating her life will be held at BARNES MEMORIAL FUNERAL HOME, 5295 Thickson Rd. N. Whitby on Sunday January 6th, from 11:30 until 1:30.
In Vicky’s memory, donations to Durham Hospice Building Fund would be appreciated.
