Christmas would no sooner be over, and she would get started on a new batch for the following year. June’s speciality was knitting beautiful baby layette sets and sweaters. June was passionate about her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

She also enjoyed family vacations camping, Bon Echo Park being her favourite, and gardening, always flattered by the compliments of pedestrians as they strolled past her home. Baking wonderful peanut butter cookies was also a delight. Prior to moving to Oshawa in 1962, June along side her husband Jim owned and operated Sexsmith’s IGA in Cobourg, Ontario and Sexsmith’s Meat Market in Peterborough, Ontario.
