Barter JamesBARTER, James Lawerence  – Passed away suddenly but peacefully, two weeks before his 92nd birthday on February 14, 2019 at Hillsdale Estates.

Will be dearly missed by wife Joyce (nee Brash).

Loving father of Donna (Ron), Heather (Jim) and Cynthia (Rob).

Adored grandfather of Jeremy, Sarah (Nick), and James and proud great-grandfather of Brayden, Payton and Wesley.

James dedicated his life to serving his community.

He was a retired staff sergeant with the Durham Regional Police, 40 year member of Rameses Shrine, Toronto, and a past Master and 55 year member of the David T. Campbell Lodge 706.

James’ family extends a heartfelt thank you to the doctors, nurses and staff at Hillsdale Estates for their kind and compassionate care.

By James’ request, cremation has taken place.

Visitation will be held on Thursday, February 21 from 11:00 a.m. to 12:45 p.m. at  W.C. TOWN FUNERAL CHAPEL, 110 Dundas St E, Whitby. A memorial service will follow.  A Masonic Service will start at 12:45 pm.

Friends are invited following the service to gather at the Durham Regional Police Association Hall, 725 Conlin Road, Whitby, ON for a reception.

Memorial Donations made to the Shriner’s Hospital for Sick Children or the Canadian Cancer Society would be appreciated by the family.
