Chalmers AgnesCHALMERS, Agnes (“Nessie”) George  - Suddenly but peacefully, Agnes George Chalmers went “home” to be with her Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ and reunited with her beloved husband, Ian.

She was born in Hamilton, Lanarkshire, Scotland on July 3rd, 1924.

She died on Tuesday March 5, 2019 at Hillsdale Terraces, her home for the last seven years.

Agnes was in her 95th year.

She arrived here from Scotland in April 1948, Agnes and Ian were married for almost 70 years. She was the much loved mother of Eleanor (Chalmers) Meek and son-in-law, Gerald Meek.

The last of 6 children, she was predeceased by her brothers and sisters - George, Isabella, May, Frank and Margaret (Peggy) and their spouses.

Agnes was the youngest daughter of William McKinlay and Frances (Lyon) McKinlay (deceased). She was the aunt and great aunt of many nieces and nephews in Scotland and the United Sates. Agnes was the step-grandma of Jeffrey (Trina), K. Amanda (Andre), J. Alexandra (Scott) and Gregory (Krista) and great-gran to Shaye, Molly, Elliot, Abigail, Charlotte, Lainey, Ben, Felix and Graham. In Scotland she worked in the millnery department of Olsen’s.

In Canada she was a busy homemaker and active member earlier in life of St. Paul’s Presbyterian Church in the Ladies Guild convening the “Kandy Kane” Bazaar and church visitor to older shut-ins in the Congregation and in the church choir for many years. In March of 2012 she joined Ian at Hillsdale Terraces. Agnes adjusted readily and embraced her new home.

She received wonderful, compassionate care by all the nurses, RPN and PSW workers in Garden Gate. She loved everybody there in all the departments.

Our family, with deep gratitude thank all of you for making my mother’s life so enjoyable for 7 years.
