Al was born in New Richmond West, Quebec, Canada, at the old Carswell Farm owned by parents Heber and Vera (Doddridge) Harrison.

Al lived in Oshawa, ON during forty-one years of employment. When he retired in December 1991, he was President of C.U.P.E. Local 45, at Oshawa General Hospital, where he was employed as a certified carpenter. Al was a member of St. Paul's United Church, Ajax, ON.

He enjoyed his beloved lakefront property at Little Lake, Brighton, ON from 1972 to 2005, and later as an active participant in ongoing projects of construction with son-in-law, John Wood.

Winters in St. Petersburg, FL meant donating much time to his condominium association as a member of the Board of Directors, and mostly as a volunteer and maintenance adviser to the Board.

Leisure time in FL included becoming an avid, competitive, trophy-winning Shuffleboard player on several teams.

Al is remembered for his devotion to family, quick wit, work ethic, organizational skills, dependability, patience, love of Country and Western music, and stepdancing at a few wedding receptions.
