DOUGLAS, Catherine Marie (nee Burnie) - Passed peacefully away on Friday, July 5, at Hillsdale Estates at the age of 87.
Beloved wife of the late Garth (2010).
Predeceased by her parents Catherine and Delbert Burnie, sister Mary and brother-in-law Logan MacDonald.
Sister-in-law of Dorothy (Dot) Crossley and aunt to Carol.
Fondly remembered by the Wingrove family. Catherine was a lifelong resident of Oshawa, and attended St. Gregory’s Elementary School and then Oshawa C.V.I.
After completing her Grade 12, she attended the Oshawa Business College, and worked at Oshawa City Hall for 40 years, retiring in 1992. While working, she met Garth Douglas and they married in 1964, spending over 46 years together.
She and Garth enjoyed travelling and visiting friends.
Catherine was a member of the Catholic Woman’s League at St. Gregory’s and of the MROO – the Municipal Retirees Organization of Ontario.
Special thanks to the amazing staff at Hillsdale Estates, particularly the Maple Grove Unit who were like family to Catherine, for the past 13 years.
Visitation will be held at ST. GREGORY THE GREAT CATHOLIC CHURCH (194 Simcoe St., North, Oshawa) on Thursday, July 11th, 2019 from 10:00 a.m. until time of Funeral Mass at 11:00 a.m. Interment to follow at Resurrection Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Parkinson Foundation or CNIB.
