BROWN, Nelda “Faye”  - Nelda “Faye” Brown (nee Norton), 66, passed away on July 5, 2019 at her home in Oshawa, ON. 

Faye was born in Stouffville on March 7, 1953 to Lawrence “Crumb” and Marjorie Norton.

 

Faye was raised in her beloved hometown of Claremont where she taught Sunday School at the United Church and played baseball for many years.

Faye was a country music recording artist and was known for her powerful voice. “Doc and Faye,” her band with her husband, enjoyed radio success. Faye was a devoted mother, storyteller, sharp-witted comedian, book-keeper, homemaker, and cook. Faye suffered from chronic pain associated with rheumatoid arthritis, fibromyalgia, kidney disease, and battled issues with depression and anxiety.

She was fiercely loving and loyal to her family.  

Faye is dearly missed by her husband, Henry “Doc” Brown of Oshawa and her daughter, Jaime Lee Brown (Andrew Calder) of Ottawa. She is survived and fondly remembered by her siblings, Larry (Sharon) Norton, Don (Pat) Norton, Gail (Bob) Beelby, and Daryl (Jacqueline) Norton, and many nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, and her grand-dog, Bruce.

She is predeceased by her parents.

As per Faye’s wishes, there will be no formal service. A Memorial Celebration of Faye will be held at the Claremont Legion on Sunday, July 21, 2019 from 1 -5 pm.

In lieu of flowers, Faye’s family would appreciate memorial donations made to your local branch of the Canadian Mental Health Association, which promotes mental health for all through advocacy, education, research and service
