HOMES, Edward George James   - It is with incredible sadness but also with great hope that we share the news the Edward George James Homes (84 years old) has gone to his heavenly home.

The angels came and took my sweet Husband, our beloved Dad, Papa and Great Papa to be with Jesus on Wednesday, September 4th, 2019, peacefully with his family by his side.

e was the most amazing and wonderful Husband of Nettie (Wasiluke) for 62 years (September 7th, 1957).

The dearest Dad of David (Marlene), Scotty & Carolyn, his princess Wendy & Scott Couper, predeceased by our precious angel, Susan Elizabeth , and Kathy & Glen Taylor.

He was the most cherished Papa in the world to Kayley & Caleb Dunn, Shelby, Alexandria & Jacob Dunn, Olivia (Tyson), Cody (Natalie), Rachel and Justin Edward. He was the sweetest Great Papa to his “Wee Princess” Noelyn Grace and his two precious great grand baby boy twins, Miles and Fletcher; he lived for them, each one of his family.

He was an amazing brother-in-law to our sweet sister, our angel Mary, Olga (Nick), his late sister-in-law Shirley (Stan), and Alex (Bubs). He was the dear son of the late George & Bessie Homes, brother to Josie (Neil) and his late sisters; Jessie (Elwood), Marg (Denny) & Bid (Norm).

He was the son-in-law of the late Alexander & Tillie Wasiluke, who adored their “Eddie”. He was loved by his many nieces and nephews, cousins, his dearest friends; Sibby, Peter & Evelyn, his church family and his work buddies.

Our love, our faith in God and our deep love for each other is what kept us going through his long and difficult journey with prostate cancer. But through it all, Ed never lost his joy.

We want to thank the wonderful cancer team, Dr. A. Lee, Nurse Paulette, Dr. Greg Lo, Dr. McAllister, Dr. Chang, our family doctor, Dr. M. Ali, and our home Nurse Joan, who brought so much fun and compassion into our home. Our paramed and palliative care workers were always so kind and giving, they treated us just like family with so much love.

There will never be a more caring, compassionate and fun-loving team than the nurses and staff on the 4F Cancer support floor. They loved Ed and I, and we loved them.

Thank you from the bottom our hearts, we will never forget you! I have lost the most kind and loving Husband, he truly was the wind beneath my wings and the song in my heart.

We were inseparable, we were still so madly in love and because of that, my life will never be the same again. One day we will walk the Streets of Gold together, hand in hand. I love you Honey, forever and ever.

Visitation will be held at Oshawa Funeral Home, on Sunday, September 8th from 2 – 4 and 6 – 8 p.m. Funeral Service will be held in the chapel on Monday, September 9th at 1:00 p.m.

Memorial donations may be made to the Lakeridge Health Foundation.
