Chryk RosalindCHRYK, Rosalind Chryk   - (July 26, 1939 - October 23, 2019)  With great sadness, we announce the sudden passing of our mother Rosalind (Ros) Phyllis Chryk on Wednesday, October 23rd, 2019 at Lakeridge Health in Oshawa.

Despite a lengthy 7+ year battle with breast cancer, she always had her amazing smile and quirky sense of humour.

She will be greatly missed by her family and friends.

Ros enjoyed a long career as an elementary school teacher.

Some may remember her as their teacher at Christ Church Nursery School, or their French or Music teacher at Coronation, Thornton, Gertrude Colpus, or Harmony Public Schools.

She attended York University for French as a Second Language, and returned again to school at Trent University in 1988, and received her Bachelor of Arts degree.

A caring, giving person who enjoyed helping others, Ros began a second career as a massage therapist, and also studied Reiki and Aromatherapy.

She was also a long-time blood donor with over 100 donations to the Red Cross, and volunteered as a server at Outlook Durham/St. Vincent's Kitchen.

Ros was predeceased by her loving husband Peter Chryk on September 16 of 2019, and her parents Frank and Alberta Stevens (1999/98).

She is survived by her daughters Sandra Gardner (Mark Jenkins), Laura Mills (Toby) and Jennifer Van Demark (Chris), and grandchildren Arden, Noah, Emma and Mackenzie.

We wish to express our deepest thanks to the doctors, nurses and volunteers at Lakeridge Health Oshawa, and to her PSWs who were by her side over the past few years.

In memory of Rosalind, please consider a donation to R.S. McLaughlin Durham Regional Cancer Centre at Lakeridge Health Oshawa.

The family welcomes friends and family to attend a Celebration of Life for Rosalind Chryk and Peter Chryk on Saturday November 16 from 12:30 – 2:30 at MOUNT LAWN FUNERAL HOME & CEMETERY, at 21 Garrard Rd in Whitby.

Internment will follow at MOUNT LAWN MEMORIAL GARDENS.
