EVANS, Mary Anne Evans   -  93, of Bowmanville, Ontario, passed away peacefully at home on Thursday, January 30th.

Mary was preceded in death by her husband Egbert, parents Wilma & Anton, daughter Anne-Marie, sister Hilda, nephew Robert and brother Joseph.

She will be sadly missed by her beloved son Anton and his partner Carrie, niece Erika and her children Aurrora and Azaybio, grandson Aidan and his mother Lori and sister Debbie.

Mary was born in 1926 in a small rural German village named Schmiedshau in Slovakia, emigrating to Montreal, Canada in 1933 where she quickly learned English and went to school. Upon graduating she was hired by an accountant - her future husband Bert. They were married in Kingston, Jamaica in 1950, eventually living there for a couple of years, returning to live in Toronto in the late 60’s in the Roselawn apartments of Forest Hill.

Mary’s career highlight was her many years at the Canada Revenue Agency in Ottawa. She returned to live in Toronto near her son when she retired, enjoying many years doing events and activities with the West Scarborough Seniors Association, eventually following her son to Bowmanville where she lived in the Season’s Retirement Community. Her final year was spent under the tender care of her niece, Erika - for which the family is eternally grateful.

Visitation will be held at Northcutt Elliott Funeral Home,  Bowmanville, on Tuesday February 4, 2020 from 10- 11 am. A Memorial Service will follow in the Chapel at 11 am.
