GOODWIN, Betty Mae (Small)   - Died Wednesday, April 23, 2020 in her 95th year at Orchard Villa L.T.C. from COVID 19.

Betty is dancing again in the arms of her beloved husband Don (deceased 2015).

Loving mother to Steve (Ann) and Carol (Rick) Thorley.

Proud Gramma to David (Shannon), Meaghan Murray, Michael, Brendan Murray, Krista (Justin) Nathan, Brian, Andrew (Lisa) Thorley and Kevin.

Great Gramma to Violet and Winnie Goodwin and Jordan and James Nathan.

Betty met Don in 1945 when she was a Playground Supervisor at a park across the street from his house.

They were married in 1950 and had Steven in 1953 and Carol in 1955.

They shared 65 wonderful years together.  They lived with Don’s parents in Toronto until 1957 when they moved to a farm in Pickering.

In 1961 they moved to their own farm “on the other side of the hill” in Greenwood.

They built a house on the 7th Concession across from Cherry Downs in Pickering in 1969, moved to Halls Road in Whitby in 1978, and finally into a condominium near Pickering Town Centre in 2009.

In Greenwood, they joined Greenwood United Church and Betty was a member of the choir for almost 50 years.

Betty and Don were active members of the church community.

You could always find them volunteering at the annual fundraising Oyster Supper, Beef BBQ, Turkey Dinner and pretty much every other event the church held.

Betty lived a full and colourful life, surrounding herself with people she deeply loved and who loved her.

She will be dearly missed by all who were blessed to have known her.  Don’t cry for what we have lost - smile and remember what we have had.

In lieu of flowers or a memorial donation, please contact a relative or friend from your past who you may have lost touch with. Betty would have liked that.

Due to the current restrictions, a private family interment was held at Salem Cemetery in Pickering on Saturday, April 25, 2020.
